AB Stunning of slaughter animals has received considerable interest for the last 100 years. Stunning by contusion of the forehead, resulting in subsequent concussion of the brain was most common. This was accompanied by more or less pronounced lesions of cranial bones and brain. This paper summarizes the developments of stunning devices used or invented from 1890 to 1930.
