AB Carcass and meat quality damages, like broken bones and blood splash, are induced in different frequency because of electrical stunning of slaughter pigs. Therefore, the producers of stunning equipment going on the change electrical parameters like current frequencies, waveforms, voltage and amperes to minimize these damages, not knowing how this technical modefications influence welfare concerns. It is the gole of your running investigations, to find out the electrical parameters, which guarantee animal welfare-conforming electrical stunning of pigs. The results show, that all stunning frequencies (50, 500, 800 Hz) caused under laboratory conditions an effective stun within a minimum current flow time of 0.3 sec. With increasing stunning current frequency we found a decrease of the voltage measured int he brain. In comparison to 50 Hz-stunning, a 500/1000 Hz-current caused a reduction of CNS-voltage of about 10%. That means for example that an equipment with 225 V constant and 500/1000 Hz delivers the same amperage as an apparatus with 250 V constant and 50 Hz.
