AB Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is a rare, neurodegenerative disease caused by a prion protein. The patients are usually between 40 and 60 years old. Most of the patients die within one year after onset of the disease. A typical case is reported. It is pointed out that such a dramatic development can cause anxiety and a feeling of inadequacy for close relatives. To avoid adverse consequences, it is important that the family and the health personnel involved receive necessary and adequate information about the disease.
