AB Still we have to find a reasonable compromise between measures for protection against BSE/vCJD, and the resulting economical and ecological sequels. If it will be allowed to process parts of carcasses from healthy animals, which evaluated after slaughter as capable for the human consumers, then the norms for the state approved plants achieve a particular value. Assuming an oral transmission of BSE/vCJD via contaminated food is to simple for the eradication of BSE as the born after ban causes have shown. Considering the material cycles in the animal production it is discussed other possible routes of transmission. The epidemiolgy research ought stronger focus on other routes of transmission.
