AB Basing on pathogen Prions as causative agents for TSE, the epidemiological pathways (in primary production, meat processing procedures as well as food technology) are known and are getting under control. Especially with regard to feedstuff, uncertainties still must be assumed. With respect to Prions, also the meat production line is generally unsafe. Legal network is applying the available scientific information in adequate terms. However, the practical surveillance is a matter of concern, too. After all, the summit of outbreaks should have been reached and a decrease of the epidemic should be expected.
