AB The originary TSE disease of sheep-Scrapie- has been known for more than 250 years without presenting an apparent risk for the consumer. In view of the possible transmission or the BSE agent by sheep, however, measures had to be taken to prevent the input of TSE agents via sheep into the food and feed chain.
